A roadmap for the future of e-Learning research and school practice in Taiwan
The objectives of this presentation are (a) to sketch the Taiwanese science and technology education; (b) to provide an overview of an ongoing Ministry of Education funded, five-year research project which sets out to establish a Center for Research Excellence in Science Education (CRESE) at the National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), with the aim to renovate science education in Taiwan; (c) to summarize some e-Learning related research results particularly in the area of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education, which NTNU has endeavored to accomplished during the past several years; and finally (d) I would also like to propose a pedagogical visioning on how computer technologies may be incorporated into classroom learning environments without losing the teaching and learning perspectives. The ultimate goal is to offer practical knowledge and experience to inform school teachers, educational researchers, and computer engineers on how to better integrate technologies with instruction into classroom learning environments in both secondary and higher educational settings.
